The Youth Employment Agency (YEA), under its security module, has deployed 59 Community Protection Assistants (CPAs) to support the Tumu District Police Command in the Sissala East Municipality in enhancing security across the area.
The new recruits, 45 men and 14 women, were officially commissioned at a ceremony held on Friday, September 26, 2025, at the Sissala East Municipal Police Headquarters in Tumu. Their deployment is aimed at strengthening community policing and improving law and order in all 64 communities within the municipality.
Speaking at the event, Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Mr. Adamu Yakubu Bennin described the initiative as “historic.”
“This is the first time in history we have been able to get 59 CPAs to augment the efforts of the police within the municipality,” he said, urging the recruits to uphold discipline and professionalism in their work.

Municipal Police Commander, ASP Johnson Adusei Poku, welcomed the new personnel but strongly cautioned them against abusing their authority.
“The prison is not only for civilians but for everyone, including the police. I will not hesitate to prosecute anyone found guilty of misconduct,” he warned.
ASP Poku further appealed for logistical support, including fuel, uniforms, and motorbikes, to enable the CPAs to perform effectively across the vast municipality.
A representative of the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, Bankuoro Haruna, credited the deployment to the MP’s persistent lobbying following concerns raised by the Police Commander about inadequate manpower. He reassured the CPAs of the MP’s continued support and encouraged them to remain diligent in their duties to help curb crime.
Mr. Batong Alhassan Hor, a YEA official, reminded the recruits that the agency’s mandate goes beyond job creation, stressing that disciplined service could open pathways to permanent opportunities within the security services.
The deployment of the 59 CPAs marks a significant step in boosting security presence and community policing in Sissala East.
