Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Peter To-ang, and the Member of Parliament for Jirapa, Hon. Cletus Seidu Dapilah, held a strategic meeting with Ghana’s Minister for Food and Agriculture, Hon. Eric Opoku

In a bid to strengthen agricultural infrastructure and investment in the Jirapa Municipality, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Peter To-ang, and the Member of Parliament for Jirapa, Hon. Cletus Seidu Dapilah, held a strategic meeting with Ghana’s Minister for Food and Agriculture, Hon. Eric Opoku, on Thursday, July 17, 2025.

The high-level discussion focused on the proposed renovation and activation of a warehouse facility located at Jirapa Yagha. The project aims to improve post-harvest storage and significantly reduce food losses in the region, a critical step toward enhancing food security in Ghana.

Following the engagement, the Agriculture Minister assured the delegation that a team of investors would soon visit the warehouse site to assess its potential for operationalization.

As part of efforts to foster international agricultural partnerships, Hon. Opoku also invited the Jirapa MCE to participate in an upcoming diplomatic meeting with Serbia’s Minister for Agriculture. The meeting is expected to open doors for future collaboration and foreign investment in Ghana’s agriculture sector.

Hon. To-ang expressed confidence in the outcomes of the engagements.

“I remain hopeful that these discussions will yield positive results for our agricultural sector nationwide, and I am confident that the Jirapa Municipality will also benefit significantly from these initiatives.”

This initiative forms part of the government’s broader commitment to modernize agriculture, reduce post-harvest losses, and ensure long-term food security across Ghana.
