The University of Ghana’s Health Services Directorate has issued a public notice warning of a resurgence of COVID-19 cases within and around the university community. The alert follows the identification of both suspected and confirmed cases in the immediate vicinity, sparking renewed concerns over public health and safety on campus.
According to the directive dated June 23, 2025, the university’s health authorities are calling on all staff, students, and visitors to remain highly vigilant and adhere to strict preventive measures aimed at curbing community spread of the virus.
Key guidelines outlined by the Health Services Directorate include
- Wearing face masks, particularly in enclosed or crowded spaces
- Frequent hand washing with soap or use of alcohol-based hand sanitizers
- Maintaining at least one metre of physical distance where possible
- Avoiding large gatherings unless absolutely necessary
- Ensuring good ventilation in lecture halls, offices, and meeting rooms
- Promptly seeking medical attention when experiencing flu-like symptoms
In addition, the University of Ghana has reactivated its COVID-19 Response Protocols, which involve screening and triage at health facilities across the institution’s campuses. The Health Services Directorate assured the public that it is closely monitoring the situation and will provide regular updates as necessary.
The Directorate urged the university community to cooperate and take the precautions seriously to protect themselves and others.
