The Ghana National Service Authority (GNSA) has issued a firm directive to all National Service Personnel who are concurrently engaged in full-time employment to immediately report to any of the Authority’s Regional Offices or its Head Office in Accra to regularize their status or face severe sanctions.

In a press release dated May 19, 2025, the Authority cautioned that individuals who are receiving both national service allowance and salaries from full-time jobs, especially in the public sector, are in breach of the National Service Authority Act, 2024 (Act 1119). The announcement follows a data-matching exercise using full enrollment lists submitted to the Controller and Accountant General’s Department, covering General Enrolment (2024/2025), Nurses Enrolment (2025/2026), and Teachers Enrolment (2025/2026).

“This exercise is aimed at identifying individuals who are unlawfully drawing dual income,” the statement read, emphasizing that such actions constitute fraudulent conduct under the law.

The GNSA has set Friday, May 23, 2025, as the deadline for voluntary compliance. After this date, defaulters will face strict administrative penalties, including immediate deletion from the national service payroll, possible prosecution, and a permanent ban from future public service engagements.

The Authority encouraged affected personnel to take advantage of this opportunity to amend their records and avoid the full force of legal consequences.

“The Ghana National Service Authority remains committed to integrity, accountability, and transparency in national service administration,” the statement concluded.
