The Chiefs and people of the Nandom Traditional Area in the Upper West Region have celebrated this year’s Kakube Festival, marking a successful end to 2025 with a rich display of culture, heritage, and unity.
The colourful ceremony brought together dignitaries from across the region and beyond. Notably, the Minister for Employment and Labour Relations, Hon. Dr. Alhaji Rashid Pelpuo, graced the event on behalf of the President, H.E. John Dramani Mahama. Also present were the Municipal and District Chief Executives for Nandom and Lambusie, Hon. Anthony Ziniel and Hon. Irenius Naule Basimbie, as well as regional and district security commanders and prominent sons and daughters of the Nandom Traditional Area.

Delivering the keynote address, Hon. Pelpuo extended the president’s warm greetings to the people of Nandom. He praised the traditional area for its immense contribution to national development, particularly in producing outstanding professionals in the fields of medicine and law.
Chairman for the occasion, the Nandom Naa, Naa Professor Edmund Delle Chiir VIII, used the platform to call for peace, unity, and accelerated development within the traditional area. He emphasized that progress can only be achieved when the people remain united and work collectively toward a common future.
The festival also welcomed several traditional leaders from neighbouring paramountcies, including the Jirapa Naa, Naa Donglebong Dinaa Ganaa III, who joined their counterparts in celebrating the cultural heritage of Nandom.
This year’s Kakube Festival highlighted the vibrant customs, dance, and traditions of the Nandom people, reaffirming the community’s commitment to preserving its cultural identity while fostering peace and development.
