Nandom’s Great Revenue Push Nears 2025 Target

The Nandom Municipal Assembly is on track to meet its 2025 revenue target of GHS 250,000, having already collected GHS 187,000 as of September this year. To close the remaining gap, a team led by the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Anthony Ziniel, has begun a direct, spot-collection exercise in the vibrant Nandom market.

Hon. Ziniel stated that this initiative is the beginning of a year-long effort that will be expanded to other active markets within the municipality. He conceded that the various town councils are currently not very vibrant and said a key long-term strategy is to energize them to sustain these revenue mobilization efforts.

The MCE also outlined measures to ensure the exercise’s efficiency and accountability. He revealed that all revenue collectors are now working on a 20% commission basis to incentivize hard work. Furthermore, he asserted that specific measures are being kept in place to guarantee all funds are properly accounted for.

The initiative has been met with some support from traders. Mohammad, a livestock trader in the Nandom market, lauded the idea as a necessary source of funding for market cleanliness and other amenities. However, he also appealed to the assembly to consider reducing the charges, particularly those levied per animal.
