The RNAQ Foundation launched a nationwide food bank initiative aimed at tackling hunger and empowering communities across Ghana in August. The program was officially unveiled at the La Palm Royal Beach Hotel in Accra, attracting dignitaries including Deputy Minister for Food and Agriculture John Dumelo, National Youth Authority CEO Osman Abdulai Ayariga, actor Adjetey Anang, traditional leaders, and philanthropists.
Speaking at the launch, founder Richard Nii Armah Quaye said the project was driven by his personal experiences with hunger and a commitment to social justice.
“This is not just about food. This is about telling every Ghanaian that you matter,” he said.
The initiative will begin with five operational hubs in the Greater Accra Region—Korle-Gonno, Ashaiman, Kasoa, Odorkor, and Madina—and will later expand to all ten regions of Ghana. Unlike traditional food banks, the RNAQ Food Bank will provide freshly prepared hot meals in partnership with local food vendors, supporting both nutrition and small businesses.
Mr. Ayariga commended the Foundation for its efforts, describing the initiative as “impactful” and one that will benefit generations, noting that over 3.6 million Ghanaian students face food insecurity.
Deputy Minister Dumelo praised the program for aligning with the government’s “Feed Ghana” agenda, highlighting its potential to provide nourishment and create jobs.
The project follows Mr. Quaye’s retirement from his leadership roles at Bills MicroCredit and Quick Angels Limited, where he was credited with providing over GHS 7.5 billion in microloans and supporting more than 20 local businesses.
The RNAQ Foundation says it will continue to work with partners to ensure no Ghanaian goes without a nutritious meal each day.
